- mostly demos, a few covers, and an album.
Songs on Garageband.com- Includes the original version of the song, I Want, Fade Like Memory and Don't Leave Me Hangin', from Just For Me.
All songs below performed by PsychoVoyager, AKA me. The
performances/recordings are copyright George-Williams Isaacs (also me).
The compositions are copyright the respective writers and/or publishers
(mostly not me).
I Shot The Sheriff - written by Bob Marley. This I'd completely forgotten about. I was listening to some old E-Jam rehearsals from 1998 when I came across this recording. It was done as an arrangement for the band to play for an upcoming gig. Couldn't find any rehearsals of this song and we didn't record the gig, but it very likely sounded closer to the garage rock thing we were doing at the time than to this "performance". The tune ends with me riffing on the Theme To Baretta (Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow), which was expanded for the live appearance.
Dancing Barefoot - written by Patti Smith and Ivan Krall.
I first fell in love with U2's rendition, a b-side to a single (I forget which one) off the Rattle & Hum CD. There was also a great version on an episode of the TV show Millennium which prompted me to seek out Patti's version. I put this one together largely with samples and sound files from the E-mu series (I'd just gotten the ESI-4000)
in addition to my voice and guitar. The funny thing about using stock
samples and such is that when you hear them in other songs you might
forget that they're not your sounds. That happened to me for a few
seconds as I watched a Korean film; Guns And Talks
(good movie, by the way). There's a scene where a car is driving into a
tunnel and you here this music, and I'm thinkin'; Hey!! That sounds
like one of mine!! How'd they get their hands on this? Soon I came to
my senses and realized they used the same samples I did. This is a bit
long at 14 minutes approx. Appeared in 1998 on my compilation "Cage", distributed to friends and such.
Raspberry Beret -written by Prince and the Revolution.
Recorded around 1997 or '98, this appeared on Cage and also a fan produced CD-R of Prince covers & tributes put together by a guy named Bren (Shaolin Monk With The Funk). The contributions came mostly from regulars of the usenet group, alt.music-prince. I don't remember much about the recording process.
Fly Me To The Moon - written by Bart Howard.
I wanted to create a backing track of something simple for someone I
knew who was just learning the bass (which is why the bass-line is so
simple). I don't think she ever used the tape, but I went and finished
the recording which initially had no vocal (if I remember correctly).
I'm a big fan of Sinatra and doing this song was a lot of fun for me (My favorite version appears on Sinatra and Count Basie's "It Might As Well Be Swing"). This version appeared on a cassette compilation simply called "More George Songs" in 1996. Like everything else, distributed to friends and whatnot.
Wonder Woman - written by George-Williams Isaacs.
This one is not a cover. At the time it was written and recorded, I
recalled a favorite TV show of mine from back in the day. I couldn't
remember the theme so I made up my own. Never cared for the comic book
versions (on which the shows were based), but I loved the TV versions
of Wonder Woman, even that one movie that predates the Linda Carter series. Recently, Tricky recorded a cover/tribute using the music from the Linda Carter series, but different lyrics, on his album, BlowBack. This Wonder Woman appeared on George Songs in 1994.
